Rev. Timothy L. Hottel
Reverend Timothy L. Hottel was my father. He served the Lord Jesus for his whole life passing away in 1999 at age 89. He retired from the active ministry three months prior to his demise. What a man! Big shoes to follow. I wrote his obituary which I include in this section. Later. I will enter sermons by him. If you knew Timothy, or have some of his work, please let me know.

The Rev. Timothy L. Hottel, 89, Pastor Emeritus of Glendale Baptist Church, died early Tuesday morning, Oct. 19, 1999, in Valley View Terrace after a short illness.
Hottel was a native of Allentown, Pa. He graduated from Allentown High School; attended Philadelphia School of the Bible and Furman University.
Rev. Hottel was married to Grace Held on January 1, 1932. He owned and operated a grocery store in the 1930's in Allentown. He organized and directed the Allentown Youth Christian Center for many years, sometimes having 1000 in attendance during the weekly meetings. In 1940, Hottel, his wife and young son, David, formed the Hottel Trio. They traveled extensively in the United States and Canada giving concerts and conducting revivals. in 1944 Rev. Hottel started the Riverside Baptist Church in Mobile, Ala., under the Mobile Baptist Association. He remained as pastor at Riverside Baptist Church in Mobile, Ala., under the Mobile Baptist Association. He remained as pastor until 1946 when the Hottel Trio joined evangelist Jesse Handley and toured for another year.
In 1947, Glendale Baptist Church extended a conditional call for him to be pastor. Ben Avon Baptist Church called him as pastor. He co-pastored both churches for two years. Glendale kept extending the call by six months for several years. He remained as pastor for 37 years.
In 1984 he resigned from Glendale and became involved in many revival meetings and pastoral supply. He became a staff member of Westside Baptist Church and remained for 15 years resigning from Associate Pastor in 1999.
During his ministry, he combined music and preaching, conducting revivals throughout the area. He was the secretary for the Spartanburg Association for 26 years. In 1949 he helped establish the El Bethel Baptist Assembly (Camp Meeting) and led the music for 50 years, concluding that ministry in July, 1999.
He is survived by a son, Dr. David T. Hottel, pastor of Hillendale Baptist Church, Woodbridge, Va.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister; and a brother.
Viewing will be Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at the M.W. Bobo Funeral Chapel from 6 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Glendale Baptist Church, Saturday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m. The church will be opened at 9:30 a.m. for those wishing to view the deceased.
The Rev. Glen Felmet will deliver the memorial address assisted in the service by the Rev. Kenneth Moore and the Rev. Eddie Burris. Dr. Hottel will conduct the committal at Greenlawn Cemetery.
