Take His Hand

[ Take His Hand ] Memo ] Nags Head ] Funeral ] Using God ] Seven Ups ] Work ] Happiness ]

My maternal grandmother loved poetry.  She would collect poems and share them with anyone who she felt would benefit.  She sent them to publications for use and many were used.  The other day I came across an old issue of a newsletter to which she had sent a favorite poem.  Printed on front of that newsletter was the poem she loved.  We share it now.

Before I rise to meet the day

I fold my hands and softly say,

Father, may everything I do

Bring me closer unto you.

Each morning when I wake I say,

I place my hand in God's today.

I know He'll walk close by me side

My every wandering step to guide.

He leads me with the tenderest care

When paths are dark and I despair,

No need for me to understand

If I but hold fast to His hand.

My hand in His, no surer way

To walk in safety through each day.

By His great bounty I am fed

Warmed by His love, and comforted.

When at day's end I seek my rest

And realize how much I'm blessed,

My thanks pour out to Him and then

I place my hand in God's again.

Good advice.  Let's place our hand in His as we reach out to pray for President Clinton and others who have places of authority. Many do not appreciate his views or his actions.  Many criticisms are justified.  But, the Bible instructs us to pray for our leaders.
